The Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing women’s empowerment and human development as it sets for a week-long celebration of the 26th NASFAT Women Week, scheduled from October 12th to 19th, 2025. The President of NASFAT, Dr. Ayodeji Abdulwahid AbdulRauf, FCS, in his press release, emphasized that equality for women and girls remains the defining challenge that will shape peace and progress in the 21st century.
Dr. AbdulRauf underscored the strong ties between women’s advancement and global prosperity, stressing that “women’s progress is human progress, and human progress is women’s progress.” He noted that the past 25 years of NASFAT Women’s activities have recorded remarkable achievements in health, education, and economic empowerment across the society’s global chapters, with increased participation of women in leadership and governance.
Highlighting African success stories, he referenced former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf as a beacon of post-conflict reconciliation and educational reform. He affirmed that NASFAT women are equally driving change through education, mentorship, and advocacy for girl-child advancement and community growth.
However, Dr. AbdulRauf lamented that women still face alarming challenges, including politically motivated sexual violence, forced marriages, and gender-based discrimination. He condemned such acts as “un-Islamic” and “violations of human rights,” insisting that they must be eradicated from society.
He further called attention to the global “pandemic of violence against women,” citing gendercide and mass abuses as threats not only to morality but also to national security. NASFAT women, he stressed, continue to champion justice, dignity, and equality through faith-based initiatives.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. AbdulRauf urged local, state, and federal governments—as well as foreign governments and international NGOs—to partner with NASFAT women. He stated that faith-based organizations with integrity, accountability, and tested leadership are vital to steering Nigeria and the world toward sustainable human development and a better life for all.
