In commemoration of the 1445AH Hijrah Calendar, the NASFAT Agency for Zakat and Sadaqah (NAZAS) in collaboration with NASFAT Health Services and other external partners named Ninerela+ Nigeria Positive Faith In Action, Another Life and Centre For Integrated Health Program(CIHP) have conducted a free health check and screening programme tagged 1445AH Hijrah Medical Outreach.

The event took place at the Lagos State Secretariat Mosque, Alausa, Ikeja, on Sunday, July 23, 2023.

The health outreach programme is aimed to provide vital health screenings and tests to the Muslim ummah and the general public. Attendees were offered screenings for blood sugar, blood pressure, prostate cancer, HIV/AIDS, and other basic tests to assess their health status.

Mr. Muftau Adelotan, the General Manager of NAZAS, expressed his satisfaction with the programme, stating that over 200 individuals benefited from the outreach. He emphasized that the primary objective of the initiative was to raise awareness about health issues and equip beneficiaries with the necessary knowledge and steps to take towards maintaining good health.

“Besides the policy thrust of Nasfat tagged “HELD” (health education livelihood and dawah) is the template that this initiative is also working to achieve.”

Abdulwahab Abdulrahman, a member of the NAZAS Board of Directors, emphasized that, the essence of the event, is to encourage the Muslim ummah to prioritize their health, embrace regular health check-ups, specifically mentioned the need for HIV testing by Nigerians every three months.

Mrs. Azizat Salaudeen, a member of the NASFAT Health Services, explained that the programme was designed to provide individuals with an opportunity to assess their health status and receive professional consultation before being referred to a hospital if necessary.

According to her, “the initiative is aimed to empower participants to take proactive steps towards their well-being because the health agenda in the Society’s national thrust policy, HELD is an important assignment that the NHS committee is focused to achieve. Don’t forget that a healthy life is a wealthy being.”

The external partners, the likes of Ninerela+ Nigeria Positive Faith In Action, Another Life and Centre For Integrated Health Program(CIHP) expressed their willingness and joy to associate with Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society NASFAT as a faith-based Society that’s not just concerned about the spirituality of humanity but also touching lives in many ways especially in the area of health and well being of the people hence their readiness to collaborate with the society at this programme and anytime with the provision of medical equipment, personnel and resources the exercise requires.

Agbabiaka Toheeb, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries at the free medical outreach, expressed their gratitude for the organizers’ efforts. He commended the efficiency of the process and the proper attention given to attendees.

He however extended their appreciation to the organizers and prayed for Allah’s mercy and blessings upon them. The collaboration between NAZAS, NASFAT Health Services, and other partners showcased a commitment to community health and well-being.
