NASFAT YOUTH BRAINSTORM ON “BRIDGING THE GAP”

The Youth Wing of Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society worldwide at its just concluded 12thInternational Youth Conference at Ede, Osun State, Nigeria resolved that for our nation`s youth to attain great heights, there is need to provide necessary information, guide and skills to bridge the obvious gaps in terms of Knowledge, Youth unemployment, Empowerment, Access to Funding among others.

In his welcome address at the conference, NASFAT Youth Secretary, Bro. Fatai Olayemi charged the participants to be focused on the objectives of the conference and for the participants to maximize the opportunities afforded by the conference.

In the keynote address delivered by Alhaji Abdul-Wasiu Kola Omotunde-Young, member NASFAT Board of Trustees, he took the participants down the memory lane on the history of NASFAT stressing that NASFAT WAS NOT FOUNDED BY ANYONE BUT ALLAH (SWT).

The Theme Speaker, General Manager, AMCON (Asset Management Company of Nigeria), Alhaji Suleiman Majeed spoke extensively on the topic in which he said bridging the gap starts with each member. He however charged participants to be up and doing and gave the illustration that the current wave of technology started with Algorithms (0`s and 1`s) which was pioneered by Muslims.

Following the major sessions which involved all the participants, members broke into syndicate sessions where the groups were essentially designed to serve as platform to breeding new leaders as well as encourage team work.

Highlight of the conference included health talks with Dr. Saheed Raji, a mental Health Physician at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo. As the resource person, he spoke on Drug Abuse and Management and Depression: Managing the challenging world.

Other facilitators included CEO of SpeakInfluence Africa, an organization that moulds minds. He spoke extensively on leadership with a focus of Repositioning for Excellence.

Representatives of Google Nigeria led by Bro. Teslim Adeyemo educated participants on Digital Skills training. Participants were trained on how to set up Google My business; develop an online strategy to advertise their goods and services.

Other highlights of the conference included; Presentation by NASFAT Drama group; Interactive session between the genders both single and married; NASFAT Radio informing members of happening around the conference; debate competition on “Reawakening Leadership traits in you”; training on blogging; sporting activities and an amazing entrepreneurial skills of NASFAT HQ Youth Wing members through the sales of various commodities.

The 4 day international conference held between 14th and 17th April at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Ede, Osun State with the theme, Bridge the Gap. The annual programme which drew participants from Nigeria and in the diaspora had an impressive attendance of about 2000 participants.
